Organic wheat bread gets USDA fundings


Organic food products have gained popularity as an alternative method for farming to conventional way of farming . Organic wheat are grown in larger part of US. To support this and further research and development USDA has pledged support of USD 19.0 Mn to Universities engaged in these research .Bakeries in America are now using more of organic wheat for their products and are lapped by consumers .To name few Rose bakery ,Borealis Bakery ,Rudis Organic bakery,Bread of Life bakery


Organic farming is method of farming where farmer uses methods like crop rotation , green manure ,natural pesticides and mechanical cultivation and where synthetic or chemical fertilizers and pesticides are avoided.


"Organic agriculture is one of the fastest growing segments of US agriculture and the USDA and Congress, through the 2008 Farm Bill, are committed to helping this industry succeed by addressing critical organic agriculture issues through the integration of research, education and extension projects," said Ms Merrigan. "These grants are an important part of USDA's new 'Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food' initiative, which will help develop local and regional food systems and spur economic opportunity by assisting organic producers with new production and marketing practices to meet rising consumer demand." source fruitnet.com.

Organic farming methods offer several benefits for the environment and human health as a whole, but unfortunately, there are many misconceptions and falsehoods being spread regarding organic food and farming methods, both by proponents and detractors. Ill- Effect of pesticides , synthetic fertilisers and GM foods on human health are well Known to people ,Hence the best option is to encourage organic products

subodh, I agree the effects of pesticides and fertilizers have a proven bad effect on the environment (which makes human health worse.) But all the studies show no evidence the *food* is healthier. But still, the damage to the environment, and the need for sustainability is enough reason to use organic methods.
